In programming, if you want to learn a new language I can’t recommend enough - BUILD something with it, find something you want to build and just do it. you WILL hit your head on the wall a million times, you WILL spend 10 hours trying to get the code to work, you WILL feel stupid endlessly, but eventually, it will come - that lightbulb moment. When it does you will see your skills grow daily, building will become faster, better, and you will eventually become a master at it. Build, fail, learn, build, fail, learn, succeed ❤️

Worked on a little reth project over the past few days - read event logs directly from the reth db and get a ready to go decoded postgres database all with a simple json config file and no extra setup. This is an interesting topic which crosses my mind a lot, I do not have kids yet, but I have a lot of side projects which I LOVE. As sad as it sounds, being on my computer coding is my happy place. Question to all the fathers out there when you had children, did that change? Did the motivation become harder? Did that drive in your shift? I’m not expecting kids yet, but it’s always something I wonder about. People love their kids, and some people change into completely different people.

We are load balancing the dispatcher out (10x increase in dispatchers), and if you upgrade to one of the new dispatcher, you most likely will see a considerable improvement in the speed of it being sent on-chain, on top of having less fight for queue space. It requires a signature but it’s worth it! 🚀🙌🏼

👉 the internet - a network box in your house that nobody understands. People enter the extended code to connect, which is seen as normal. 👉 mobile device - a handheld device you can call the other side of the world with, video for hours on an incredible camera, FaceTime anyone instantly. 👉a plane - a floating box which takes you from A > to B flying in the sky 🤯accessible by anyone. 👉TV - watch anything you want, staring at a big screen, live football, movies, anything with a click of the remote. My point here is that the most complicated things in the world and the most advanced things are abstracted so well away from the end user that they see it as usual and straightforward. If planes, mobiles, TVs, and the internet can all exist for anyone, then history has already proved that anything is possible for mainstream if abstracted away well enough.

We are working on exposing the entire LENS DB over a PUBLIC big query dataset, allowing you to grab huge amounts of data instantly. The LENS API is excellent for smaller queries, but this will open up the doors for bigger computes, ML processes and a lot of other stuff. Shouldn’t be long ⚡️

Still the most undervalued topic (inside joke) a lot of developers are not utilising when monitoring events and writing indexers. Every block has a logsBloom and in that you can check without an additional (in most cases not needed) RPC call (eth_getLogs) if the event you care about has been emitted in that block! Bloom filter checks can sometimes give false positive aka it can say true and not be true in some rare cases (not an issue and rare). This brought our RPC calls down in the indexer from 1.1M calls a day to 50,000 calls a day. The 1.1M output would not scale either as every new event we add would add another 44,000 more RPC calls (even if that event was rarely used). The bloom filter checks only adds the eth_getLog RPC call when the event has been emitted which means it only uses the resources it needs, more RPC calls equals more TCP connections, bigger bills, more memory usage, list goes on. Worth looking into if your writing an bare metal indexer! https://github.com/joshstevens19/ethereum-bloom-filters

Elon seems unstable to me. Changing his mind left right and centre, changing core principles in minutes probably with no other view but his. Free speech has already been hurt a few times, even more so now that you can not even post links which is not in Elon/twitters best interest. This isn’t about free speech for everyone, this is about if Elon doesn’t agree with you then it’s wrong and it’s getting banned/deleted, look at twitter spaces. This is Dictatorship at the highest level blurred by bringing people he thinks should not be blocked back into the platform. Elon may tomorrow say posts 1 year old have to be deleted due to storage space with no say from the owners of the tweets. It’s the best time in 10 years to make that move to something you own and grow your social graph for the last time. Bring the power in your own hands.

People who don’t believe blockchain can go mainstream just go and look at the network box in your house which connects you to the web, 99% of people do not understand how it works. Once upon a time they had to solve that. Complex systems just need the correct abstraction.

metadata v2 IMO has not been pushed to its limits yet on LENS. It gives you the ability to apply tags to the publications, apply the language code and region code, apply content warnings, ability to define its main publication focus (videos, audio, image, articles, text only, link, embed) with all of these new properties you have the full ability to filter any of these things on the API.. discovery is the next big thing which we need to push to its limits on lens, making it fun and easily discovering people who post the content you love, it is one of the most important factors in social for both creators and consumers!! excited to see where people take it. https://docs.lens.xyz/docs/metadata-standards

@lenster.lens @orbapp.lens @phaverapp.lens and all of you amazing lens clients, when someone just does a text only post/comment let’s convert this text into a PNG/JPG/SVG image, upload it to IPFS/arweave, attach it to the “image” property in the metadata. This now means when people collect the post/comment the NFT has an image which resolves on opensea and all the other marketplaces, sharing the publications content! 🙌🏼
